Wedding Favors for a Garden Themed Wedding

Posted on: September 17, 2011

Finding inspiration for your wedding favors can often come from the theme, style or even venue of your wedding. Themed weddings have become very popular in recent times and with summer being the most popular time for weddings, it is little wonder that a garden theme is a popular choice.

Here are a few ideas for garden themed wedding favors:

  • Flower seeds are the most obvious choice, but how about flower bulbs or even seedlings which you have grown yourself and potted up as wedding favors?
  • Give your guests some delicious tea which they can enjoy at home in their gardens. Collect together some vintage china cups and saucers (try Ebay, charity stores, boot sales etc) and add in small sachets of tea leaves and stylish chrome infusers.
  • Or why not add a recipe to a sachet of tea leaves and an infuser, for delicious afternoon tea goodies. Type out recipes for cakes, buns, rolls and canapés on your home computer, print them out and laminate them. It is a nice idea to cut them in to interesting shapes rather than leaving them as rectangular sheets. Create a template on your computer with a heart shape or something that coordinates to your wedding and type your recipe inside, laminate and then cut round.
  • Give your guests some citronella candles so they can sit out in their gardens of an evening and not be pestered by flies and midges.
  • Windmills are a wonderful addition to a garden and can be easily made at home using a kit from a craft store or by downloading a template from the internet. Make them in colored card that coordinates with your wedding and personalize them by typing your names and wedding date on to them.
  • Find some small novelty planters such as Wellington boots, frogs or birds and fill them with garden themed candies and chocolates.
  • Give out candles shaped like flowers, butterflies, bees and birds.
  • Or look for tea light holders shaped like the above and add a colored tea light inside.
  • Raid book stores for miniature gardening books which can make a useful favor for your guests!
  • Make your own pot pourri by drying petals from flowers from your own garden and adding a little fragranced oil. You can present them in cellophane bags or make them into scented sachets with fabric bags sewn up to secure the contents.
  • If you or someone you know has a particularly beautiful garden then take a photograph of it when it is at its best and have it made into fridge magnets. You can easily make these yourself with your home computer and add a personal message to them as well.
